REREAD: Luke 7:1-10

  1. What was a Centurion? What do we learn about him in this passage?
  2. What amazed Jesus about his faith? Why would it have been significant for Jesus to commend this man’s faith?
  3. How do we see the Centurion exhibit both great faith and great humility?
    1. How do/should faith and humility relate to one another as a Christian?

REREAD: Luke 7:11-17

  1. What can we learn from Jesus' act of raising the widow's son about His compassion and power?

REREAD: Luke 7:18-35

  1. What was John’s questions to Jesus? What do we make of this? Why do we think that John asked this?
  2. How might unmet expectations and tough circumstances cause us to doubt God and His word? What needs to change to move beyond doubt?
  3. We now have information about Jesus and His plan that John didn't have (life, death, resurrection, Holy Spirit, and 2nd coming). How can that put us in a greater kingdom use position than John?
  4. What do you think compelled Jesus to speak on John’s behalf in verses 24-28?
  5. Jesus asks, “To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?" Then he answers the question. Discuss how His question and answer are spot on for our generation and our hearts today.
