- So many of us have been taught to seek and rejoice in earthly results and miracles which isn't wrong but can easily become twisted. What does Jesus say should cause us the greatest rejoicing? Why is this an absolutely important understanding for a follower of Jesus to have?
- What was Jesus’s response in 21? How does that make you feel to think about?
- What should cause us to feel some of the greatest blessing/happiness (vs. 23)? Why?

- What was the legal experts question? Why do you think he asked it?

- How did Jesus reframe his question?

- What is “the one thing is necessary” that Jesus is referring to?
- People love to use this story to ask, are you a Mary or a Martha? Often, we like that way of looking at the passage so that we can find excuse to keep doing little or to keep doing too much. What does "this one thing is necessary" tell us this story is really about?
- There were huge cultural expectations about hospitality, especially for women in the home. The passage before this was all about laying down your life to serve (Samaritan). What things listed in this passage did Jesus expose in Martha? What would have been the PERFECT response for Martha to say/do?
