So often we can doubt God's love or take it for granted. God is love. All that God says and does is in love, and He does not change. Do we embrace God's definition of love or do we try to change it? God tells us clearly through Malachi, I Love & Don't Change. #malachi #2020
Lord we pray that you would teach us about your love, that we would believe you over our feelings and opinions, we would not doubt that you are love, and we would not take you for granted. May we embrace your definition of love knowing that you say, I love & Don't Change. Help us to see you are the one God that created us.
The book of Malachi reads like a text or social media conversation. As we continue our study of Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament, God's people have seen God continue to love them, discipline them, and explain to them clearly who He is. Yet, His people keep asking questions of Him as if they believe they have done nothing wrong.
"The priests were the descendants of the tribe of Levi and the leaders chosen to do the mediating between man and God, prior to the coming of the Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. The priests were acting unholy while still trying to mediate – this was hypocrisy at its finest. The priests were the Bible teachers of the day and were to serve as the ultimate example of character, devotion, and commitment, as modeled by Levi, the priesthood’s originator. During the days of Malachi, the priests were allowing divorce, divorcing themselves, having affairs with unbelieving women and allowing their children to do the same. God was angry and his message was one of urgency, because the actions of the priests were corrupting the ministry and picture that ultimately belonged to Jesus! God could not allow them to be irresponsible with the ministry he gave them by allowing them to continue to dishonor, pervert, and corrupt such a sacred calling." (source link)
