Lord this world, while beautiful, is suffering filled with uncertain hopes, sold hopes, false hopes, and shattered hopes. It often lead us and others to be uncertain on where to set our hope. However, you came to give us a clear picture of the person and a place we are to set our hope. Help us to set our hope as we live as exiles waiting for you our living hope. Over the next several weeks, may we learn better how to set our hope on You and tell others, “SET YOUR HOPE” on Jesus. Amen

- What are you to “set your hope completely on….”?
- What does the enemy want us to set our hopes on…? Why?
- Where is the “serious” battle for self-discipline fought after we have salvation and the Holy Spirit comes into out hearts? (1 Peter 1:13)
- What are the things God has given us to practice self-discipline and get “your minds ready for action”?
READ: Ephesians 2:8-10
- If we are going to be self-disciplined “by grace through faith” “not by works”, why is it so “serious” to “set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ”?
- Why is understanding our new identity (self) in Christ vital if we are going to practice biblical self-discipline not worldly self-discipline?
- Think of your life before you surrendered to Jesus. How is it different now?
- How has allowing God to teach you self-discipline made you different in the last few years?
Peter quotes Leviticus 11:44, 18:2, 20:7 “Be holy because I am holy”.
- Based on all these verses how would you describe a “holy” life lived by a believer?
- Why do we tend to be so scared to talk about being holy and obedient in our modern Christian culture?
